The mysterious and glowing rise of the moon is how I see this. I can smell the deep forest. I can hear the owls. This is so lovely.

Wowww! Whether sunrise or sunset this is bloody gorgeous – a study in Indian ink! And just a wee bit spooky too! Great eye, Elizabeth

I’m not sure why my eye is telling me sunrise; or is this even the nether world of the great north where the sun doesn’t quite ever set for a few precious weeks, or alternately, deep winter when the light barely shows itself? The quality of the photo lends itself to the mystery, Elizabeth.

Night time, though not in the great north, just regular old Newfoundland (regular in terms of latitude anyway, if not much else). That light might be the last glow of daylight but I think it was just the lights of the city in the distance.

Do I see the blue of a lake in there, or is it snow?

Snow and a lake, but the lake isn’t blue, it’s covered with ice and snow. It is a colour photo though so maybe there are blue tinges to the snow.

Me too, sunrise. Absolutely silent. Wonderful choice, b&w.
