This is just a note to myself and anyone else who’s interested. I loved this book so much. Ransome Riggs (better known as the author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) spent years collecting old photos at yard sales and flea markets, specializing in photos with added comments or captions. The captions bring these anonymous photos to life. They are funny, self deprecating and heart breaking: men at war, a beloved little girl who died, people who hate the way they look… the comments bring the long forgotten subjects back to life.
