Good grief. This is amazing. The situation looks dire indeed — but what a bittersweet note to have that little (endangered itself) creature snuggling in to give comfort! I think we need the story .. though am wary. Great shot Elizabeth. When you leave academe you have a future as a foreign correspondent, I would say!

Yes, it’s a heart-rending photo, but that hand clutching the stuffed animal suggests hope. Or at least that the person is well loved. Like the others, I’m almost afraid to know the story behind it.

Powerful. Hard to look at without welling up with emotion. Beautifully captured. The story here, I’d like to think: that kitty got a huge hug and kiss when all the bad stuff was over… and both are home now.
