Splashes of orange, red, yellow, green, blue, all so subtle and ordinary but caught like this create something special. The faces too! How did you get this? And why are they posing? Story please. (:

They were very excited because they had firecrackers and seemed happy to pose. It was just before Chinese New Year. I love photographing people but rarely do here because people are so self conscious about it and so anxious about their children in particular. It seems much easier in China where people happily pose when they see a camera (not always, but often).

Delightfully playful and colourful. You’ve caught these two in action and in great poses. Look at those smiles! The colours against the drab backdrop are particular striking. Where was it taken, Elizabeth?
